The price of raw pineapple in Thailand hovers between 6.5-7.5 baht ($0.19-0.22) per kg now. Some middlemen are said to be selling fruit to canneries at 6.5 baht per kg, but market prices today (January 11) are closer to 7.20 to 7.50 baht per kg and rising. "Fruit supply is down and demand from canneries is still good," said a local industry source.
